Eiseman Construction Supports Refurbishment of Delaware Valley University Chapel
Eiseman Construction is pleased to support the restoration of Delaware Valley University’s Ida M. Block Memorial Chapel, a non-denominational place of spirituality used by students and community members. Eiseman made in-kind contributions in the form of exterior and gutter repairs as well as financial donations. The university held a groundbreaking ceremony for the refurbished chapel on Oct. 22, 2023.
“We are proud to support the revitalization of Delaware Valley University’s historic Ida M. Block Memorial Chapel and contribute to a space for students and members of the community to reflect and gather,” said Courtney Dickinson-Mukamuri, Eiseman Construction’s director of administration and operations, who is an alumna of the university. “The Chapel has a long history of bringing people of all faiths and backgrounds together for mental and spiritual self-care and to peacefully exchange views on important issues. We look forward to restoring this vital community space.”
Donated in memory of community leader Ida M. Block by her husband and family in 1899, the Ida M. Block Memorial Chapel is one of the oldest buildings on Delaware Valley University’s campus. Rabbi Dr. Joseph Krauskopf, the founder of the university, provided regular non-denominational services for students of all faiths at the chapel during his time as president, and the space is still used by students and community members as a place for spiritual reflection. The Chapel is also used by DelVal Greek Life for gatherings and by IMPACT, a faith-based student club offering non-denominational services where students share life experiences and stories of overcoming challenges in inspirational sermons.
The university has raised $40,000 for chapel renovations through fundraising, an amount that was matched by community philanthropist Richard Millham. The renovation of the Chapel coincides with the 125th anniversary of the university’s founding.
